Non-Profit Programs

It is widely acknowledged that increasing awareness and education is one of the most effective ways to break the cycle of poverty and corruption in developing communities. That is why teaching English is one of the most popular volunteer opportunities we have – mastering english is a crucial skill that will not only broaden students’ perspectives but also expose them to a multitude more opportunities globally.

However, after volunteering for awhile, we noticed 2 prevalent issues: 1) even with the best intentions and most hardworking students, one cannot advance much without a robust lesson structure and 2) as with the nature of overseas volunteer placements, volunteers come and go and their english lessons tend to be repetitive.

In order to increase efficiency and ensure students benefit from the volunteer efforts, DYW assists in assessing the schools’ needs and designing English programs for their students. These programs are tailored to fit the students’ proficiencies and requirements. Typically, they are categorised into 3 levels – Beginners, Intermediate and Adult and cover 3 different aspects: Grammar, Vocabulary and Conversational.

In order to ensure continuity among short-term volunteers, we also implement various volunteer management tools so volunteers can refer to past volunteer efforts and work on what has already been done.

Here at DoYouWander, we strongly believe that for every problem faced, there is a creative solution on the other side. If you’d like to part of this initiative as a volunteer or beneficiary, simply contact us here. ; )
